Suicide is the second leading cause of death among teenagers in the United States and the most preventable.  You can learn to identify the risk factors and warning signs of a mental or behavioral health crisis before it's too late.  In this eight hour class led by Christina Crist, VP and Executive Director of Team of Mercy, you will learn how to recognize possible signs of mental health challenges and how to help a teenager dealing with these issues.    Youth Mental Health First Aid is a public education program made available through Hamilton Center.  It seeks to increase public understanding of mental health challenges, teach parents and other caregivers how to assist a teenager who may be affected by these challenges and remove the stigma surrounding them.  Team of Mercy is a nonprofit organization that assists survivors of suicide.  This class is not designed to teach the diagnosis of mental health disorders.  Lunch for registered participants will be provided by the Library.
