A Universe of stories: Creative Writing workshop

Ages 8 - 14: Are you dreaming of being a writer? Got lots of ideas in your head you want to put on paper? An entire universe of stories will be at your fingertips in this hands-on class. Students will  practice several creative writing techniques that will get even the craziest ideas out of their heads and onto the paper. Students will experiment with writing in fiction or non-fiction, and will leave the class with completed writing exercises and lots of ideas to keep writing a world of stories outside of class.

Books Before Bedtime

Families with children ages 0-5 join us for stories under the stars! Come just before dark for stories, songs, and crafts before bedtime! This event will vary each week from traditional story time, to art-based activities, to music-making, and everything in between!

Exploration Creations: Shaping Planets

Ages 5 - 11: The outer surfaces of solid planets are shaped by geologic forces similar to Earth's. Experiment with these forces by modeling volcanoes, glaciers, impact cratering, and erosion. Sometimes science gets messy!

Ages 2-5: Bring your preschooler to the Library for interactive stories, songs, dancing, crafts and play from 10:00am to 10:30am.  There will be 30 minutes of free play offered from 10:30am to 11:00am.

Lunar Lander Launch

Thursday, July 11 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Ages 5 - 11: Design and create your own lunar explorer to send to the moon. Using the engineering design process then test the design to see if it can make a safe landing. Pair this with Soaring through Space for an additional engineering challenge.
