Be prepared to help a youth with a mental health issue before it becomes a crisis in this class taught by instructor Christina Crist, V.P./Executive Director of Team of Mercy, a non-profit organization in the Wabash Valley that assists survivors that have lost a loved one to suicide.  In this eight hour training session, you will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of a mental health issue or crisis, what you can do to help a youth experiencing mental health issues and when to seek out professional assistance.  This class is not designed to teach the diagnosis of mental health issues.  Lunch for registered participants will be provided by the Library.

Ages 8 & Up: No one wants to have to defend themself from an attacker.  But, if the situation arises, quality training is key.  Teacher Jason Yost of Yost Wing Chun Kung-fu Academy will teach an introductory, four session self-defense course focused on learning how to be aware of your surroundings, how to develop and use energy efficiently and effectively and how to develop the confidence to defend yourself from anything seeking to do you harm.  Please wear comfortable clothing and any protective gear you may have.  Classes continue into October.  Please plan to attend all four sessions.
