Fire safety is a very important skill to know. The Terre Haute Fire Department will be on hand to show us how to use fire prevention tips. Children will watch a video about how to prevent fires from occurring and see what a fire fighter looks like in his or her gear. Take pictures with Sparky the Fire Dog, and see a real fire engine!
Come learn about bats! Professor Joy O'Keefe will present how these mammals fly, live, hear, eat, and avoid dangers in our everyday world. Come see pictures, a bat house, and more! An exciting question and answer session will follow. Echolocate this program, spread your wing, and fly in for a fun and informative hour that will leave you "batty" for bats!
Jim Canary, Conservator at the Lilly Library at IU-Bloomington, will discuss his work restoring George Kessler's "Emerald Necklace" map and additional blueprints for the ongoing Special Collections exhibit.
With the help of the community, the Pinwheels for Peace art project will consist of over 300
pinwheels, to be displayed at the VCPL September 21-29 with an opening
reception at the Library on International Peace Day, September 21, 5-6 pm. The installation will also be available for viewing at ISU's
Homecoming Festivities in Tent City at Memorial Stadium on October 1.
