This month, you can learn to sew by making a whimsical coaster, experiment with electrical circuits and make a paper circuit robot, or animate an undersea creature using Krita. Create This! introduce you and your family to easy STEAM activities that require no previous experience and are completely self-directed.

Ages 12-19: Do you need a break after a stressful day at school? Spend an evening with the therapy dogs from Love on a Leash! These friendly, gentle dogs are trained to create an environment where you can relieve stress—whether you want to play with them, relax and pet them, or watch others interact with them. You won’t need to stay the entire evening; drop in and spend some time with Love on a Leash whenever you can while the dogs are at the Library.

Ages 12-19: Use your smartphone or tablet to prevent an alien invasion with Jackbox Games®’ Push the Button or pick another game from a Jackbox Party Game® pack! Jackbox Games® are multi-player games where you will work with others to solve puzzles, answer trivia questions, or create and define new words. If you don’t have a smart device, you can borrow one from the Teen Space to play.

Ages 12-19: Spend the last days of summer exploring nature, creating art, and increasing scientific knowledge with this month’s Teen Take & Make Kit. In Barbora Kurcova’s 52 Nature Craft Projects, you’ll learn how to make inspiring art, gifts, and decorations with natural materials, while The Pocket Scavenger by Keri Smith will encourage you to see the world as a source of inspiration, and Darlene Cavalier’s The Field Guide to Citizen Science will teach you how to expand scientific knowledge as part of a large community of informal researchers.
