About Homebound & Outreach Services
What Do We Do?
Outreach Services delivers library materials right to your door. Delivery is a free service provided by the Vigo County Public Library to residents and agencies or institutions in Vigo County.
Who Is Eligible for Homebound & Outreach Services?
Outreach Services is available for the following:
- Residents of Vigo County who are homebound for a period of three months or more;
- Day cares and preschools in Vigo County;
- Agencies or institutions that serve Vigo County residents, such as:
- Senior Communities
- Residential Facilities
- Mental Health Centers
- Assisted Living Facilities
- Local Clubs
What Does It Cost?
Outreach Services cost nothing, if you are a qualified resident, agency or institution of Vigo County.
What Type of Materials are Available?
You may choose from books, large-print books, audiobooks, music, CDs, DVDs, Blue-Rays, magazines, children's material and more.
Do I Get to Choose My Materials?
Yes. An Outreach staff member will speak with you to determine your preferences. You can be as general or specific as you want — it's all up to you!
How Often Do You Deliver?
Outreach Services deliver to individuals once a month and to agencies every other month.
What If I Don't Like What I Get?
If you are unhappy with the materials you receive, please call at 812-232-1118 or email Outreach Services to discuss what materials would be better suited for your taste. We will do our best to get you the materials that you want.
What If I Don't Meet the Three-Month Requirement or I Have a VCPL Card But Live Outside Vigo County?
The Vigo County Public Library offers digital library materials that you can download to your computer or device if you have a VCPL library card, including ebooks and audiobooks, digital magazines, and music.
What If I Decide This Service Isn't For Me Or Need To Cancel?
Simply call Outreach Services at 812-232-1118 to be removed from the delivery route.
